GEH 2293...2312, 9423: [n. 172 Im Tode Versöhnt]
Also see 9423. Miscount from 2293...2312, refiled, was temporary loc. 2312b.
GEH 2313...2322: [187 Martyrer Gaumont]
Friuli 20418: Transferred from Ines’s Filemaker Pro CD
No written notes on blue slide box. Mounted in slide frames (Cineteca del Friuli). Marked by paper divider [187] inside slide box [187] also written on slide frame.
Friuli 10756 ... 10758 From Cineteca del Friuli. Found in open plastic slide box containing unlabeled slide frames or even unframed clippings 10756...10776. Between #10758 and #10759, a title slide presumably made by Davide Turconi was found that reads [4 fotogrammi di IL POVERELLO DI ASSISI Cines ( 1911 ) ] - UR, DC.

PCU Dec 4, 2009: I think we have a problem here, and possibly I have a solution. “Turconi Envelope” (= Joye 1960 Catalog) number 172 is a totally different film, GEHEIMNIS DES ALTEN TEMPELS (Clarendon, UK), a story with Chinese characters. On the other hand, Turconi’s handwriting on the envelope is clear. My hypothesis is that “Im Tode Versöht” (= Reunited in Death) is the text of an intertitle, and it could be an intertitle from the adjacent film, MARTYREN, as the film is about Christian martyrs (the Joye Catalog entry for MARTYRER mentions two characters as “gehen freudig in den Tod”). Having said this, and knowing Turconi’s customary accuracy, I can’t figure out the reason for the “172” number on the envelope.
UR 3/25/08 Can we (or do we even need to) trace which ones were the framed ones, which ones unframed?
German title translates as “Reconciled in Death” - UR 1/31/08

Possibly The Christian Martyrs (Gaumont, 1912). See still image in Gaumont. “The Christian Martyrs [ad].” Moving Picture World 11.2 (January 13, 1912): 139. and Anonymous. “Manufacturers Advance Notes: The Christian Martyrs (Gaumont).” Moving Picture World 11.2 (January 13, 1912): 131.
2293...2312 and 6737...6756: same titles, different films.
PCU, Dec 4, 2009: Title on Joye Catalog 1960:MÄRTYRER.
UR 1/22/08: German title translates as “Martyr[s]” UR 1/16/08: If German, this should read “”Märtyrer” |
