JLY 6/14/2012 AIRSC Catalog
JLY 5/27/2011 Clips 8682...8709 misidentified on envelope as Feuillade Gaumont film, but it’s clearly a different Pathé film on a similar subject. There is a possibility that the Gaumont and Pathé films were spliced together as the Gaumont film can be found from Bologna material at 14827...14872, 15610...15649, 16861. However, no Gaumont clippings were found with Pathé clippings in the Bologna holdings. I have separated clippings into different titles. Later Friuli clips 21497...21516 from Pathé title.
From GEH 8682...8709: [n. 571 tit. Tedesco Svizzera Der Festmahl des Belthazar Le festin de Balthazar di Louis Feuillade (1910, Gaumont)]
SBL 4/16/10 NB: there is an additional group of clips from the Feuillade/Gaumont film in the Bologna collection, #s 15610...15649
SBL 2/1/10 After consult with JY, it seems that this title is possibly frames taken from two different films on the same subject that were put together. This question is well worth further investigation into Joye collection; considering the religious subject matter, it seems possible that Joye might have done this himself.
They are here part of the same Turconi/Joye title.
Pathé produced a 1905 film MARTYRS CHRETIENS (alt: LES MARTYRS, DANIEL DANS LA FOSSE AUX LIONS, LE FESTIN DE BALTHAZAR, MARTIRI CRISTIANI), directed by Lucien Nonguet. Presumably, this is the film identified in clip #s 8682...8709. However, the clips themselves appear newer than 1905. Further research on this question is recommended here, as well.
Gaumont’s film, produced in 1910 and directed by Feuillade, is seen in clip #s 14827...14872. Title info in this record (#0348) reflects the Gaumont info.
SBL 1/29/10 edge inscriptions on Bologna frames read Gaumont
Turconi lists as Gaumont, but edge inscription is Pathé. —JY
Proper article in German title would be “Das” - UR 1/18/08 |
