German title translates as “Max and Moritz in the City” - “Max and Moritz” is a famous 19th century illustrated story in rhyme by Wilhelm Busch, a direct predecessor of comic strips full of black humor, about a couple of nasty boys’ pranks and their ultimate demise. As a Lubin film, this can hardly be based on that story, but at least the German title does suggest a story about a couple boys up to no good. UR 1/22/08 |
