Program Notes |
In 2007-2008 Richard Williams created a digital version of his classic manual of film animation, creating many new illustrative animations, and including a masterclass conducted at Blue Sky Studios, New York (see catalogue note on Two Masterclasses with Richard Williams). In animating the book's logo, Williams has created an unchallenged masterpiece of the traditional techniques of the art and of his own graphic animation. In a two-minute microcosmic procession of animal and human life, he incidentally demonstrates every kind of animation. Underlying Williams' belief that many of the fundamentals of animation are to be found in silent film, the music is by a master of music for silent cinema, Maud Nelissen. - DAVID ROBINSON |
