| La vita di Giacomo Casanova [The Life of Giacomo Casanova], first performed at the Teatro Goldoni, Venice, in May 1998, remains one of the most frequently requested programmes of the theatre of the Padua Museum of Pre-Cinema. 150 lantern slides, chosen from the Museum’s huge collection, reconstruct the life of the celebrated libertine. Even though a DVD cannot reproduce the atmosphere in the theatre at the original performance, Laura Minici Zotti wished to leave this record of her work as a lanternist. When it is no longer possible to appreciate this cultural and historic experience at first hand, this DVD will become a useful medium to give at least an idea of what a performance with the magic lantern was like in the Victorian era. The magic lantern and original 19th-century slides are from the Minici Zotti Collection. The music used is by Vivaldi and Albinoni.
