| The Rivals began as a student assignment to create a film to accompany the last 60 seconds of the Golden Gate Orchestra’s 1925 recording of The Charleston. Aaron Ensweiler invented the characters and choreographed the action to fit the music. The longer film version was shot outdoors at -12°C to the accompaniment of an audio tape playing both the music and the director’s cues. – DAN FULLER |
