Katia Chornik (violino/violin, direzione/direction, produzione/production)
Dopo essersi laureata all’Università Cattolica, in Cile, è stata
violinista nella Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra. Nel 1998 si è trasferita
a Londra, dove ha ottenuto un Master alla Royal Academy of Music ed alla
University of London (in Direzione artistica). La sua ricerca pionieristica
sulla musica nei campi di concentramento cileni durante il regime di Pinochet è stata
pubblicata e trasmessa l’anno scorso in una serie radiofonica del
BBC World Service. Si è esibita in Gran Bretagna, Germania e Portogallo
ed ha suonato da solista con la New Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra di Colonia.
Attualmente Katia sta studiando alla Open University inglese per conseguire
il PhD, occupandosi del rapporto tra la musica e la narrativa latino-americana.
This Chilean violinist worked as a full-time member of the Santiago
Philharmonic Orchestra after graduating from the Catholic University in
Chile. In 1998
she moved to London, and earned Master’s degrees at the Royal Academy
of Music and in Arts Management at the University of London. Her pioneering
research on music from Chilean concentration camps during Pinochet’s
regime was published and broadcast in a radio series by the BBC World Service
last year. She has given recitals in England, Wales, Germany, and Portugal,
and has played as a soloist with the Cologne New Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra.
Katia is currently reading for a PhD at the Open University [UK] on the
relationship between music and Latin American fiction literature.
Julia Rogers (violino/violin)
Attualmente alla Royal Academy of Music, ha debuttato come solista a 10
anni con l’Orchestra Collegium Musicum Orchestra di Marbella ed ha
in seguito studiato alla St. Mary’s Music School di Edimburgo. Ha
vinto per due volte al Festival Concerto Competition di Edimburgo, nel
2002 eseguendo il Concerto per violino di Chaikovskij e nel 2003 con il
Doppio concerto di Brahms. Di recente si è esibita ai Proms della
BBC in un’orchestra composta da membri della Royal Academy e studenti
della Juilliard. Si occupa di molti progetti solistici e di musica da camera,
come la London Steve Reich Ensemble.
She is currently at the Royal Academy of Music, after being awarded
a scholarship to study with Maurice Hasson in 2003. She made her solo debut
at the age
of 10 with the Collegium Musicum Orchestra of Marbella, and later gained
a place at St. Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh, where she studied
with Warren Jacobs. In 2002 Julia won the Edinburgh Festival Concerto Competition
playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, and won it again the following
year playing Brahms’ Double Concerto. She recently performed at the
BBC Proms, playing as part of a joint orchestra made up of Royal Academy
and Julliard students. Julia is involved in many solo and chamber projects,
including the London Steve Reich Ensemble.
Anna Davies (violoncello)
Si è laureata nel 2003 alla Royal Academy of Music, dove è stata
molto apprezzata per la sua esecuzione del Concerto per Violoncello di
Elgar. Dal 2002 si esibisce regolarmente con il Vilensky String Quartet.
Il suo lavoro di musicista indipendente comprende esibizioni con la Britten-Pears

Ms. Davies graduated in 2003 from the Royal Academy of Music, where
she studied with Lionel Handy, and was highly commended in the May Mukle
Concerto
Competition for her performance of the Elgar Concerto. Since 2002 Anna
has played regularly with the Vilensky String Quartet; in 2006 they were
invited to play at the London String Quartet Week, performing in masterclasses
given by Gábor Takács-Nagy and Dr. Davies. In 2006 they premiered
Perpetual Lamentations, written for them by critically acclaimed Russian
composer Artem Vassiliev. Freelance orchestral work includes performing
with the Britten-Pears Orchestra and the World Youth Orchestra in Italy.
Tanya Ursova (piano)
Di origine ucraina, è arrivata nel Regno Unito nel 2000 per seguire
alla Royal Academy of Music un corso di perfezionamento nell’esecuzione
al pianoforte. È stata premiata in diversi concorsi internazionali
per piano e musica da camera, esibendosi in molti Paesi. Attualmente sta
studiando per conseguire il PhD in Performance Studies al Goldsmiths College
di Londra.
Originally from the Ukraine,Tanya Ursova came to the UK in 2000 to pursue
a postgraduate piano performance course at the Royal Academy of Music.
She has won prizes in several international piano and chamber music competitions
in France, Greece, and Italy, and has performed in many countries, including
Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout the UK. She is currently
reading for a PhD in Performance Studies at Goldsmiths College, London.
Cameron Todd (tromba/trumpet)
Ha studiato tromba alla Royal Academy of Music, ottenendo il Master nel
2004. Durante i suoi studi si è esibito con la National Orchestra
of Wales della BBC, il complesso di ottoni The Wallace Collection
e la European Union Youth Orchestra, oltre che in concerto con Elton John
nel Regno Unito ed al Radio City Music Hall di New York. Attualmente è membro
della UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, che sarà in tournée
in Sudamerica alla fine del 2006.
He studied the trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music, finishing a Masters
course in 2004. During his studies he performed with the BBC National Orchestra
of Wales, the brass ensemble The Wallace Collection, and the European Union
Youth Orchestra, and took part in concerts with Sir Elton John in the UK
and at Radio City Music Hall in New York. He is currently a member of the
UBS Verbier FestivalOrchestra, and will be touring South America with them
in late 2006.
Dan Gresson (percussioni/percussion)
Ha lavorato con molti complessi, tra cui la Philharmonia Orchestra, la
Royal Philharmonic e la Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Dan si è anche
esibito ed ha inciso con il noto complesso di ottoni The Golden Section.
Dal 2001 suona con l’innovativo complesso Icebreaker. Nel 2004 è stato
nominato primo suonatore di timpani e percussioni della Southbank Sinfonia,
da poco costituita.
He has worked with a variety of ensembles, including the Philharmonia Orchestra,
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Northern
Sinfonia, RPO Concert Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, BBC Singers,
and the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed and recorded
with the renowned brass ensemble The Golden Section. In 2004 Dan was appointed
Principal Timpani and Percussion with the pioneering new orchestra Southbank
Sinfonia. In 2001 Dan was invited to join the innovative contemporary ensemble
Icebreaker, and has appeared with them throughout the UK, Austria, Germany,
and The Netherlands, and also in New York, at Carnegie Hall in 2002 and
at the Lincoln Center Festival 2005.
