A colpi di note/Striking a New Note [4.10.09, matinée]
Non c’è due senza tre e rieccoci con “A colpi di note”. Il progetto non solo continua, ma è “contagioso” e così potrete ascoltare il gruppo degli alunni della “mia” scuola media Centro Storico di Pordenone ed il gruppo della scuola media Leonardo da Vinci di Cordenons.
L’idea per il lavoro di quest’anno parte dalla scena di Limelight (Luci della ribalta) in cui possiamo ammirare insieme Buster Keaton e Charlie Chaplin. I ragazzi hanno imparato ad amare Buster, tanto che è diventato un loro beniamino. È arrivato il momento di avvicinarli al sommo Charlot. E lo abbiamo fatto prima di tutto musicalmente, imparando a suonare con il flauto Eternamente, il motivo conduttore del film. Questa conoscenza intima, che è avvenuta attraverso la riproduzione dei “suoni” di Chaplin, apprezzando il suo meraviglioso senso melodico, ha reso più semplice la comprensione del suo cinema ed in particolare di Limelight. L’incontro con questo capolavoro ci riporta a quando i nostri due eroi muovevano i loro primi passi nel vaudeville ed ecco la scelta dei due film proposti: A Night in the Show e The Playhouse.
Il nostro gruppo ha rimusicato The Playhouse, costruendo un accompagnamento che adatta alcuni temi di Béla Bartók, tratti dalla raccolta For Children, che contiene melodie della tradizione slovacca ed ungherese. Nella gag dei Minstrels abbiamo utilizzato Little Negro di Claude Debussy e quindi anche Oh! Fifì, one-step di Marf e Mascheroni. – MariaLuisa Sogaro
There is no two without three, and here we are again with “Striking a New Note”. The project not only continues, but turns out to be “infectious,” and hence you can hear not only the group of pupils from “my” Centro Storico di Pordenone middle school but also the group from the Leonardo da Vinci middle school of Cordenons.
The idea for this year’s work comes from the scene in Limelight, in which we are able to see Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin together. The children have learned to love Buster, so much so that he has become their favourite. The moment has come to approach the supreme Charlot. And we have done it first of all musically, learning to play “Eternally”, the theme song of the film, on the flute. The intimate acquaintance which has come through reproducing the “sounds” of Chaplin, appreciating his marvellous melodic strength, has made the understanding of his cinema, particularly Limelight, easier. The discovery of this masterpiece carries us back to the time when our two heroes took their first steps in vaudeville and hence the choice of the two films proposed: A Night in the Show and The Playhouse.
Our group has set The Playhouse to music, creating an accompament that adapts themes of Béla Bartok, taken from the collection For Children, which includes traditional Slovak and Hungrian melodies. For the gag of the Minstrels we have used Claude Debussy’s Little Negro and also Oh! Fifì, a one-step by Marf and Mascheroni. – MariaLuisa Sogaro
“A colpi di note” è stato un progetto impegnativo ed accidentato da tante difficoltà, ma è riuscito come nessun altro a coinvolgere chi vi ha partecipato: costruire scena dopo scena la colonna sonora, mettendo in gioco ciascuno le proprie abilità, creare i rumori provando anche a considerare gli oggetti che ci capitano in mano ogni giorno come materiali sonori. E poi la scoperta delle slapstick, le sane risate scaturite da una raffica di torte in faccia o da un capitombolo!
Tutto questo condito da impegno, responsabilità e... beh anche un po’ di fatica!
La slapstick sonorizzata dalla Scuola Media “Leonardo da Vinci” di Cordenons s’intitola A Night in the Show (Charlot a teatro) e vede impegnata la nostra miniorchestra con un accompagnamento ispirato in buona parte al repertorio blues e jazzistico stile anni ’20-’30, con l’aggiunta di alcuni brani liberamente tratti da autori importanti come Grieg e Mussorgski. – Emanuela Gobbo
“Striking a New Note” has been a demanding project, beset with many difficulties, but it has succeeded as no other has done in involving all those taking part: to construct scene after scene in the sound track, putting into play each one’s own abilities, to create music, also trying to take into account as sound materials objects which come to hand every day. And then the discovery of slapstick, the healing laughter that comes from a volley of custard tarts in the face or a pratfall! All this done with dedication, responsibility and... OK – a bit of hard work!
The slapstick comedy orchestrated by the Leonardo da Vinci middle school of Cordenons is Chaplin’s A Night in the Show, and finds our mini-orchestra engaged in an accompaniment inspired in large part by the blues and jazz repertory of the twenties and thirties, with the addition of some phrases liberally adapted from important composers such as Grieg and Mussorgsky. – Emanuela Gobbo
