Leo McCarey e Charley Chase, i grandi dimenticati del Roach Studio.
Jimmy Jump, a professional translator, is commissioned to do a Swedish
version of “Little Red Riding Hood”. Having no money to buy
the book, he thinks up a thousand tricks to read the story without spending

occasione.)
Jerry (Fairbanks) is shut up behind his cashier’s grill, just like
the bank manager’s pet canary Agamemnon, which it Jerry’s duty
to care for. But one day Agamemnon escapes, launching Jerry on adventures
that lead to his winning of liberty. The rediscovery in France, even of
only the first 2 reels of a lost Allan Dwan film, with Douglas Fairbanks,
must be regarded as a major event. And the first reel is breathtaking.
(The second reel will not be presented.)

intatto, riscoperto all’inizio dell’estate 2004.
This legendary masterpiece of animation can be seen afresh in a new restoration
from a miraculously pristine nitrate print, rediscovered in the early summer
of 2004. This magical and exquisite work is contrary to all preconceptions
of cartoons of the period. Two long-legged women frolic through various
stylised settings, both industrial and natural, ranging from power lines,
springtime fields, and a stream, to a busy railway signal house. A male
cyclist chases after them, trying to return a shoe one of them has lost.
An exquisite ballet of shapes and delightful rhythms, full of joie de vivre.
Now little known, the film is a reference point for all specialists in
animation cinema.

A somewhat primitive example of marketing and a commercial that is poised
between plastic beauty and anti-feminist ridicule. 40%, though, is absolute
grace and total seduction.
LE SANS-CULOTTE (?, France, c.1920)
Dir: ?; 35mm, 90 m., 4’ (20 fps), Lobster Films.
Didascalie in francese / French intertitles.
The Reign of Terror is in full force under the French Revolution.
In a prison, three royalists (one man and two women) bewail their lot.
Only
one way remains to save their lives – to seduce the jailer so that
he sets them at liberty. No sooner said than done. The moment their guardian
appears, the two women jump on him and very quickly “take things
in hand”. A “naughty” film, with an unforeseen and
surprising ending, but definitely not for all eyes and tastes.
